Community Vets First Birthday

It’s our birthday on 13th April …

It seems hard to believe, but on the 13th April Community Vets marks its first birthday. With the amazing support and hard work of Michelle and Lisa we have had the most enjoyable time welcoming you to the practice and introducing you the service that we can provide.

We thank you for all your support and kind words of encouragement as we work hard to provide first class services and facilities within a small and friendly environment.

We now look forward to the next year and thought that you may be interested in what we are planning. Thanks to a very generous legacy we will be equipping the practice with a state of the art class IV therapeutic laser which has multiple uses in treating patients including accelerated wound healing, pain control, arthritis, and improved tissue injury repair. We have already seen several excellent results whilst using the demonstration machine over the last couple of weeks.

We are also currently working very hard preparing for our first Royal College Practice Standards Assessment which takes place next month. Once completed and passed the practice will be formally recognised as providing first class facilities and working to the the highest professional standards.

We are also looking forward this year to starting a series of client information evenings on topical and interesting areas. The first will be looking at the pros and cons of vaccination and reviewing the latest recommendations. We will be discussing how we at Community Vets will be responding to this. We will be informing you of details in a few weeks’ time.

Finally, Richard and Helen have a lot going on domestically with Ruth studying hard for her GCSE’s and Heather planning to leave us in June (before starting University in September) to spend three months volunteering in South Africa with Tearfund; supporting rural communities coping with HIV/AIDS. As part of her fundraising for this project Heather is organising a charity concert with many of the best young local musicians performing along with Portishead Community Choir. It will be held at St Peters Church, Portishead on Saturday 23rd April at 7.30pm. Tickets £5 (under 14s free) available via the practice or Morgan Wesley in Portishead High Street. We would love to see anyone who felt that they could support Heather and if you are lucky you may even manage to hear Helen singing the choir!

Once again we would very much like to thank you for your wonderful support and encouragement over the last year. We also welcome any feedback or suggestions that you have that may help us to build on and continue to improve your service over the coming year.

Very best wishes,

Richard and Helen.
